pedicel (noun; Latin pediculus, little foot): 1. Any small or short stalk or stem supporting an organ or other structure.

2. (Arthropoda: Chelicerata) In Arachnida, the attenuated first abdominal segment, joining the abdomen to the cephalothorax.

3. (Arthropoda: Insecta) a. The second segment of the antenna. b. An ovariole stalk, or short duct connecting the egg tubes with the later oviduct. c. In Formicidae, the stem of the abdomen, between the thorax and gaster.
