abdomen (noun; Latin abdomen, belly): 1. (Arthropoda) The posterior of the three main body divisions of insects; not homologous with chelicerate opisthosoma.

2. (Arthropoda: Crustacea) The trunk somites (with or without limbs) between the thorax and telson; the pleon.
