Arthropoda also arthropod (noun; Greek arthron, joint; pous, foot): A phylum of invertebrates that contains the chitinous segmented, exoskeletoned, jointed-legged animals, such as centipedes, millipedes, insects, crustaceans, spiders, scorpions, and many other less well-known types.
