segment (noun; Latin segmentum, piece): 1. A part or subdivision of a body or appendage that is marked off or separate between joints or articulations.

2. (Annelida) A portion of the body, along the anteroposterior axis, between two consecutive intersegmental furrows and the associated septa.

3. (Arthropoda: Crustacea) A podomere
