stipe (noun; Latin stipes, a stem): 1. A stem or stalk-like appendage.

2. (Arthropoda: Crustacea) In Eucarida, a stemlike basal part of an appendage with sometimes squamate or othershaped expopod, i.e., the second joint of the antenna-like appendage.
