phthisaner (noun; Greek phthisis, decline; aner, male): (Arthropoda: Insecta) A pupal male Formicidae in which the wings are suppressed and the legs, head, thorax and antennae remain abortive due to the extraction of the juices of the late larval or semi-pupal stage by the larval ant chalcid wasp of the family Eucharitidae
