lorum (noun; plural lora; Latin lorum, strap): 1. (Arthropoda: Chelicerata) In Arachnida, a protective dorsal plate on the pedicle.

2. (Arthropoda: Insecta) a. The cheek. b. A sclerite on both sides of the head of Homoptera and certain Hemiptera, and Hymenoptera. c. In Apis, the submentum. d. In Homoptera, a narrow lateral sclerite between the clypeus and the front extending to the genae, that is an upward extension of the hypopharynx.
