forceps (noun; singular and plural; Latin forceps, pincers): 1. (Arthropoda) Hook or pincer-like processes terminating the abdomen of various arthropods which function as weapons in predation or for defense, for holding the mate during courtship, or even for cleaning the body or folding the wings.

2. (Arthropoda: Crustacea) The chelipeds.

3. (Porifera) Tongs-shaped.
