Diagnosis

The subspecies is solely based on its COI sequence.

DNA Barcoding

The COI sequence is assigned to BIN BOLD:ACI9623 (average distance 0.06%, max. 0.32%, n=22, K2P: 1.29%).

Etymology

lat. interruptus = interrupted

Discussion

No morphological differences to the nominotypical subspecies Trichosiopsis scutellata scutellatacould be detected, so the distinction is based only on slight genetic differences. Both subspecies have been collected in the same sampling at the locality Bad Rodach in Bavaria (Germany). The subspecies is genetically still more closely related to Trichosiopsis scutellata elegans. It seems to have a similar, but more restricted distribution and was to date only found in Southern Germany and in Austria. The available synonym species epithet interrupta was elected, because the type locality in Austria is included in the known subspecies range.

Distribution

Austria, Germany,.
