Taxonavigation

Ordo: Diptera
Familia: Sciaridae
Genus: Trichosiopsis
Species: Trichosiopsis coarctata

Name

Trichosiopsis coarctata requaesta  unpublished

Type material

Holotype: ♀, 27.07.2013, Sweep netting, leg. Heller, ZFMK-TIS-2507204 in ZFMK

Type locality

Austria, Tyrol, Sellrain valley, Gleirschkar, near Potsdamer Hütte, 47.149 N 11.055 E

Diagnosis

The subspecies is based on its unique COI sequence. The fore and mid legs are bicoloured, but only the tips of the coxae are brightened. Otherwise there are no noticeable differences to the nominotypical subspecies Trichosiopsis coarctata coarctata. Moreover, no males are known to date.

DNA Barcoding

The COI sequence is assigned to BIN BOLD:ACR0682 (n=1, K2P: 5.46%).

Etymology

lat. requaestus = missing. The female holotype specimen was still missing in the slide collection at the time of description.

Discussion

Trichosiopsis coarctata requaesta is beside Trichosiopsis coarctata lapidaria a second alpine variant of the nominotypical lowland subspecies. With a K5P of more than 5% it is possibly a separate species, which can be better decided, when male specimens will have been found.

Distribution

Austria.
