Trichosiopsis coarctata lapidaria
Ordo: Diptera
Familia: Sciaridae
Genus: Trichosiopsis
Species: Trichosiopsis coarctata
Name
Trichosiopsis coarctata lapidaria unpublished
Type material
Holotype: ♀, 01.07.2014, Sweep netting, leg. Gerecke, ZFMK-TIS-2547974 in ZFMK
Type locality
Germany, Bavaria, Berchtesgadener Land NP, unteres Ledererkar, Rheokrene bei Hütte, 47.467 N 12.95 E
Diagnosis
The subspecies is based on its unique COI sequence. Morphologically there are no noticeable differences to the nominotypical subspecies. Moreover, no males are known to date. Only the legs in the type specimen are brighter than in the nominotypical subspecies Trichosiopsis coarctata coarctata.
DNA Barcoding
The COI sequence is assigned to BIN BOLD:ACU4754 (n=1, K2P: 2.57%).
Etymology
lat. lapis = stone. The subspecies is named after the collecting place near “Steinernes Meer” (= stony sea) in the German Alps.
Discussion
Trichosiopsis coarctata lapidaria is an Alpine variant of the common, nominotypical lowland subspecies. This finding underlines the still underestimated – cryptic and non-cryptic – diversity of Sciaridae in Alpine environment.
Distribution
Germany.
