Remarks
As stated by F. O. Pickard-Cambridge (1896)[1], the name “vestiaria” is solely a word used for De Geer (1778)[7] in his redescription of Aranea avicularia Linnaeus (1758)[8] (Simon 1892[9]: 172; F. O. Pickard-Cambridge 1896[1]: 741), in litt. “Aranea vestiaria hirsutissima nigro-fusca S. rufescens, plantis amplis tomentosis” (De Geer 1778[7]: 313). It is not a specific name as considered by Ausserer (1871)[6]. Even though other authors such as Ausserer (1875)[10] considered it a valid name, we understand a formal description was not presented or intended and, therefore, Avicularia vestiaria (De Geer, 1778) is, herein, considered a nomen nudum.
