trochantin (noun; Greek trochanter, runner): (Arthropoda: Insecta) Any small intercalated sclerite of an insect appendage. a. The basal segment of the trochanter when two-jointed. b. A small sclerite in the thoracic wall, just anterior to the base of the coxa.
