anchor (noun; Latin ancora, anchor): 1. (Arthropoda: Crustacea) In Copepoda, enlarged first thoracic segment of an anchor worm.2. (Arthropoda: Insecta) In Ephemeroptera, a distal fibrous knob of the egg, terminating an elongate adhesive thread coiled around the base.
