verruca (noun; plural verrucae; Latin verruca, wart): 1. A wart or wartlike prominence.

2. (Arthropoda: Chelicerata) In certain Acari, a genital papilla, sternal prominence, or the genital capsule.

3. (Arthropoda: Insecta) In Lepidoptera larvae, a tubercle bearing tufts of setae.

4. (Cnidaria: Anthozoa) a. In Alcyonaria, a protuberance surrounding the base of polyps. b. In Actiniaria, wart-like prominences on the body wall.
