transtilla (noun; plural -lae; Latin trans-, across; stilla, drop): (Arthropoda: Insecta) In Lepidoptera, a transverse bar, or variously shaped process, connecting dorso-proximal angles of the male valva; part of the fultura superior; the anterior end of the dorsal extension of the 9th sternum or the vinculum.
