tail (noun; Anglo-Saxon taegel, tail): 1. (Arthropoda: Insecta) The cauda; in some Lepidoptera and Neuroptera, the elongated processes on the hind wings.

2. (NEMATA) That portion of the body in vermiform adults posterior to the anus.
