scolus (noun; plural scoli; Greek skolos, pointed object): 1. Thorny processes of the body-wall.
2. (Arthropoda: Insecta) a. In Coleoptera, long branched projection of coccinellid beetles. b. In Lepidoptera, characteristic of nymphalid and saturniid larvae; sphingid larvae also have a similar process in the anal horn.
