rasp (noun; Old French rasper, to scrape): 1. (Arthropoda: Crustacea) One or more rows of chitinous plates or scales on the pereopodal or uropodal surface segments.

2. (Arthropoda: Insecta) A roughened surface for the production of sound by friction
