pore plates: 1. (Arthropoda: Insecta) In the soft scale Towmeyella parvicornis, groups of invaginated, biocular pores on the dorsal surface of the derm. See also sensilla placodea.

2. (Bryozoa: Gymnolaemata) An interior chitinous or calcareous wall of a zooid with one or more minute pores through which special cells project; part of the communication organ.
