furcula (noun; plural furculae; Latin diminutive furca, fork): (Arthropoda: Insecta) 1. The forked springing apparatus of springtails; furca. 2. In Hymenoptera, a small sclerite of the anterior sting base which depresses, raises and rotates the sting of bees.
