cystacanth (noun; Greek kystis, bladder; akantha, thorn): (Acanthocephala) A juvenile having all adult structures, except the reproductive system is immature; proceeds to a quiescent state in an arthropod intermediate host; adulthood is reached when ingested by the definitive vertebrate host.
