cypris (noun; Latin Cypris, Venus): (Arthropoda: Crustacea) In bivalve barnacles, the nonfeeding larval stage prior to metamorphosis into the cyprid, kentrogon and adult stage, so named because of its resemblance to the ostracod genus Cypris.
