acrosternite (noun; Greek akros, tip; sternon, chest): (Arthropoda: Insecta) That part of the narrow marginal flange anterior to the antecosta of a definitive sternal plate, including the preceding primary intersegmental sclerotization; normally found on abdominal sterna, but absent on thoracic sterna.
