Trichosiopsis antimelanoma remschakae
Ordo: Diptera
Familia: Sciaridae
Genus: Trichosiopsis
Species: Trichosiopsis antimelanoma
Name
Trichosiopsis antimelanoma remschakae unpublished
Type material
Holotype: ♂, 17.06.2016, Sweep netting, leg. Christina Remschak, ZFMK-TIS-2592948 in ZFMK
Type locality
Austria, National Park Gesäuse, Schröckgraben, 47.5307 N 14.65 E
Further material studied
Austria: 1 ♂, Styria, National Park Gesäuse, Hartelsgraben, Höllboden Wasserfallquelle, Sweep netting, Gerecke, 15.07.2008, KH7114 in PKHH; 1 ♂, Gipsquelle am Zachen Schuach, orog. linker Austritt (Erdfälle). Sweep netting, Gerecke, 15.07.2009, KH7554 in PKHH.
Diagnosis
The subspecies is mainly based on its unique COI sequence and its Alpine distribution. In the slide-mount the hypopygium of the holotype is slightly distorted, so the morphology of the genitalia cannot be compared well with the typical Trichosiopsis antimelanoma antimelanoma. The m-base in Tr. antimelanoma remschakae is completely bare.
DNA Barcoding
The COI sequence is assigned to BOLD:ADG6568 (n=1, K2P: 4.98%)
Etymology
The subspecies is named after the collector, Christina Remschak.
Discussion
The holotype of Trichosiopsis antimelanoma remschakae was collected the Austrian Alps. Two further specimens were collected in the same National Park and are also assigned to this taxon. More sampling and DNA barcoding of Alpine and subarctic material of this poorly known species is needed in order to know, whether the two subspecies are truly allopatric. In that case a treatment as two distinct species would be the more adequate taxonomic treatment.
Distribution
Austria.
Notes
The non type specimens of Tr. antimelanoma remschakae were misidentified as Leptosciarella melanoma in Heller (2012)[1].
