Diagnosis
This subspecies is the most common one and is mainly differentiated by its DNA barcode from the other subspecies. The gonostylus is a little bit more slender than in Leptospina truncata excentrica.
DNA Barcoding
The COI sequence is assigned to BIN BOLD:ACS3492 (average distance 0.25%, max. 0.72%, n=8, K2P: 3.21%).
Discussion
This subspecies agrees best with the original description and is therefore regarded as the nominotypical subspecies. However, as no information about the males of Leptospina truncata tertia is known and it is possible, that still more subspecies are to be discovered, this assignment may need to be in the future, when more information is available.
Distribution
Finland, Norway[1]
