dens (noun; plural dentes; Latin dens, tooth): 1. A tooth or tooth-like process.

2. (Arthropoda: Insecta) a. In Collembola, the proximal segment of the furcula (springing fork). b. Dentes= teeth or other pointed structures on the inner side of the mandible.
