basitarsus (noun; plural basitarsi; Greek basis, base; tarsos, flat of the foot): (Arthropoda) 1. The proximal division of a tarsus; the metatarsus. 2. In Chelicerata, separated from the telotarsus by the basitarsal ring or scissure.
