hypermetamorphosis (noun; Greek hyper, above; meta, after; morphosis, forming): 1. In the broad sense, refers to change of form throughout the life history.

2. (Arthropoda: Insecta) A type of metamorphosis development in which different larval insect instars have markedly dissimilar body forms
