scape also scapus (noun; Latin scapus, shaft): 1. A stem or shaft.2. (Arthropoda: Chelicerata) A structure associated with the epigynum of some female Arachnida, partially covering the vulva.
3. (Arthropoda: Insecta) The first or basal segment of an antenna; in Diptera, the two basal segments of the antenna.
