heterozooid (noun; Greek heteros, different; zoon, animal): (Bryozoa: Gymnolaemata) A specialized zooid that forms stolons, attachment discs, rootlike structures and other such vegetative parts of the colony; a bryozoan, such as an avicularium or a rhizoid.
