central area: 1. (Mollusca: Polyplacophora) The upper surface of an intermediate valve, lying centrally, and sometimes differing in sculpture from the lateral areas.

2. (NEMATA: Secernentea) The nonstriated region around the vulva in the Meloidogyne perineal pattern.
