benthic (adjective; Greek benthos, depths of sea): Pertaining to the seabottom; maybe extended to include some of the benthic animals: crabs, snails, starfish, certain worms, clams, sponges, sea anemones, corals, bryozoans, crinoids, barnacles and tunicates.
