Type
Brazil: Parana: Jaguariaiva: Parque Estadual do Cerrado, 12 April 1994, P.H. Labiak 182 (holotype: UPCB; isotypes: SP!, UC).
Distribution
Brazil: Parana, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina (probably), and Sao Paulo.
Discussion
Based on the gene regions included in our analysis, we found Tryonia areniticola to be genetically indistinguishable from Tryonia myriophylla, despite the presence of several morphological differences (Schwartsburd and Labiak 2008[1]). Further studies that include nuclear markers will be necessary.
