Diagnosis
The subspecies is based on its unique COI sequence. The holotype agrees morphologically well with the European material of the nominotypical subspecies Trichosiopsis transatlantica transatlantica
DNA Barcoding
The COI sequence is assigned to BIN BOLD:AAP9893 (average distance 0.2%, max. 1.26%, n=19, K2P: 3.91%).
Etymology
lat. cis = on this side. The name refers to the fact, that the species is present on both sides of the Atlantic.
Discussion
Trichosiopsis transatlantica cisatlantica is allopatric to the European Trichosiopsis transatlantica transatlantica. The exclusive presence of one genetic cluster on each continent justifies the treatment as different subspecies.
