Diagnosis
Trichosiopsis melanoxera is one of the largest species in the genus Trichosiopsis. By the size, the dark body hairs, especially at the fore coxae and the bare pronotum it resembles Trichosiopsis yerburyi, which instead has darker legs and more tapered gonostyles. The apically rounded and elongate gonostyles place this species into the pilosa complex of species. Only the long hairs at the base of the hypopygium may indicate a closer relationship to the rejecta complex.
Discussion
The species is currently only known by the holotype.
Etymology
