Type locality
Germany, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Binz, Biosphärenreservat Südost-Rügen, NSG Granitz, 54.387 N 13.6481 E
Diagnosis
The subspecies is distinguished from Trichosiopsis intermedia intermedia exclusively by its COI sequence.
DNA Barcoding
The COI sequence is assigned to BIN BOLD:ADG4436 (n=1, K2P: 4.82%).
Etymology
lat. rugianus = from Rugia, referring to the Island Rügen, where the holotype was collected.
Discussion
Trichosiopsis intermedia rugiana is currently known only by one single female which is not distinguishable morphologically from the females of the nominotypical subspecies. Both taxa might be allopatric, as Tr. intermedia rugiana was only found in Northern Germany whereas Tr. intermedia intermedia is known from Southern Germany and from France. By the K2P of nearly 5% it could be regarded as a separate species in the future, when also male specimens are known.
Distribution
Germany.
