Type locality
Bay of Naples, Italy (western Mediterranean Sea).
Distribution
Circumtropical, Mediterranean Sea: WB, AS (Çinar et al. 2008[7]). New record for the Greek coast.
Habitat
Until 20 m depth, in coarse sand, among photophilic algae.
Remarks
Pionosyllis subterranea was synonymized with Pionosyllis neapolitana and transferred to Grubeosyllis by Jiménez et al. (1994)[2]. San Martín (2003)[4] subsequently replaced the name Grubeosyllis with Salvatoria, which has priority over the former.
