Diagnosis

The genus is characterized by a combination of the following characters:

  • The forewings are broad and unpowdered or with only small powdered patches.
  • Forewings with 5 narrow costal cells.
  • The fore- and/or hindwings often have elaborate colour patterns.
  • The male pygofer often has prominent, pointed, lateral projections.
