Diagnosis
The genus is characterized by a combination of the following characters:
- The forewings are broad and unpowdered or with only small powdered patches.
- Forewings with 5 narrow costal cells.
- The fore- and/or hindwings often have elaborate colour patterns.
- The male pygofer often has prominent, pointed, lateral projections.
