Distribution and biology
Hermonassa yixincheni is known only from Linzhi mountain range in Aut. Reg. Xizang, southwest China. The species occurs in grassland meadows in the coniferous forest at altitude range 2100–2970 m. Adults have been collected from mid-July to late August.
The pallidula species group The pallidula species group is close to the dictyota group. Externally it differs from most other Hermonassa spp. by relatively large size (wingspan 38–40 mm), rather broad forewing shape and pale yellowish brown colour of forewing with weak main elements of the Noctuinae pattern and contrast black or dark brown orbicular and reniform stigmata. The male genitalia of the species of pallidula group are similar to those of the dictyota species group. The pallidula species group comprises following taxa: H. pallidula, H. hoenei, H. ellenae (with the subspecies H. e. ellenae, H. e. tapaishana, and H. e. robusta), and H. albimacula sp. nov.
