Diagnosis

Diagnosis. Dusona douraguia is distinguishable from other Ethiopian Dusona species by the combination of yellow tegula, dark brown scape and flagellum, yellow front and mid coxae, and red hind coxa. Flagellum is distinctly thicker apically than basally, eyes are moderately indented, and areolet is pointed above (not petiolate).

Description

Description. FEMALE (4 specimens). Fore wing length 3.8 –5.0 mm. Head. Temples moderately long, rounded, head moderately narrowed behind eyes; occipital carina complete; vertex granulate; OOi = 0.5, IOi = 1; frons, face and clypeus densely punctate with granulate interpunctures and rather dense and long white hairs; eye moderately indented in front of torulus; face without transverse carina below toruli and with a barely distinct median protuberance; clypeus transverse and barely convex, confluent with face, its apical margin impressed, sub-truncate and smooth, Ci =2.5; MLMi = 0.3; sub-ocular sulcus slightly impressed; mandible stout with a ventral flange large basally and evenly narrowing toward apex, upper tooth larger and 1.5 x longer than lower tooth; genal carina joining oral carina above base of mandible; antenna with 23–26 flagellomeres, FLi 1 = 5, apex of flagellum 1.8 x longer than wide, the four penultimate segments transverse. Mesosoma. Shiny; pronotum strongly striate anteriorly, medially dorsally strigose punctate, epomia distinct; mesonotum densely punctate with granulate interpuctures and golden hairs, notaulus absent, scuto-scutellar groove deep, scutellum convex with short basal lateral carinae; mesopleuron densely punctate shagreened without impression before mesopleural pit, speculum alutaceous, area before speculum concave and strongly striate; epicnemial carina complete, extending above ventral corner of propodeum; propodeum rugose reticulate, evenly declivous and produced into a neck, with a medio-longitudinal slightly concave furrow and a sinusoidal basal transverse carina; propodeal spiracle elliptic; pleurae and propodeum covered by a moderately long and dense silvery pilosity. Tarsal claws with three long basal comb teeth. Fore wing with areolet large and pointed above, Rs&M slightly basad to cu-a; hind wing with Cu 1 absent and 1 /Cu&cu-a almost vertical, angulated at lower 1 / 5.

Metasoma. First segment laterally polished, dorsally alutaceous, tergite and sternite fused without any distinct trace of suture; glymma absent; following tergites alutaceous, finely and sparsely punctate with short and sparse pilosity; thyridium elliptic, distant from anterior margin of second tergite by about 4 x its larger diameter; ovipositor stout, straight, with a distinct subapical notch, barely projecting beyond apex of gaster, OTi = 0.4, apical half of sheath slightly spatulate. Color. Head black, antenna reddish brown, mandible and palps pale yellow; mesosoma black; metasoma mostly orange with tergites I-II almost totally black brown, tergite III basally black brown, the following medially infuscate. Legs orange, coxae and trochanters 1–2 yellow, hind tibia and tarsus infuscate, pterostigma brown. MALE (2 specimens). Fore wing length 3.5–4.2 mm. Similar to female, but one specimen with metasoma clearer, mostly yellowish with large blackish markings on tergites I-II and V-VII. Hind legs yellowish, dorsally testaceous.

Discussion

Comments. Dusona is a large widespread genus that has been extensively revised in the Palearctic region (Horstmann 2009, Hinz & Horstmann 2004) and Indian sub-continent (Gupta & Gupta 1977). About one hundred species are reported from the studied area but only 11 from the Afro-tropical region.

Distribution

Distribution records. Reunion.
