Distribution in Canada and Alaska

NB (Bousquet et al. 2013[2]; Klimaszewski et al. 2013b[1]).

Comments

A female externally very similar to males of Dinaraea longipenis was mentioned by Klimaszewski et al. (2013b)[1] but was not included in the type series or description because of close similarity to specimens of Dinaraea piceana Klimaszewski & Jacobs. During 2014, we collected another female that is identical to the one mentioned above. After comparison with Dinaraea piceana, we concluded that these females are Dinaraea longipenis. Dinaraea piceana differs externally from Dinaraea longipenis in possessing stronger microsculpture on the pronotum and elytra (appears matte), with brighter coloration. Here, we illustrate the female spermatheca, tergite, and sternite VIII of Dinaraea longipenis for the first time (Figs 189–191).
