Materials Examined
Type material. Holotype, female, from Quercus sp. (Fagaceae), Zhuque Mountain, Jilin City, Jilin Province, China, 2 July 2006, coll. Xiao-Feng Xue and Zi-Wei Song. Paratypes, 5 females with the same data as holotype. Relation to host. Vagrant on leaf surface. No damage to the host was observed.
Etymology
Etymology. The specific designation jilinensis is from the name of the location, Jilin Province, where the new species was collected. Differential diagnosis. This species is the second Brevulacus species described, and is similar to B. reticulatus Manson, 1984, but can be differentiated from the latter by median line short on prodorsal shield (median line complete in B. reticulatus protogyne female), dorsal annuli with rounded microtubercles projecting posteriad from the rear annular margin (dorsal annuli with faint microtubercles on rear annular margin in B. reticulatus protogyne female), and dorsal opisthosoma evenly rounded (dorsal opisthosoma with weak central ridge and subdorsal ridges in B. reticulatus).
