according to the currently published literature, the genus Arachnomyia is endemic to Australia
some years ago, I noticed a few specimens of an unidentified neurigonine in unsorted material in New Zealand collections, and collected several from tree trunks in native forest in Titirangi, Auckland
Dan Bickel identified my specimens as a new species of Arachnomyia, presumably endemic to New Zealand
