Materials Examined

Type material. Holotype: Peru (San Martín): ♂, four labels: "Umg. Tarapoto / Peru, lg. Franz" with "SA 131 " on reverse side [white, printed; reverse handwritten in blue ink]; " Alloraphes / peruanus m. / det. H. Franz" [white, handwritten and printed]; " Typus " [red, handwritten]; " ALLORAPHES / dentatus m. / det. P. Jałoszyński ' 13 / HOLOTYPUS " [red, printed] (NHMW).

Diagnosis

Diagnosis. Male: frons and vertex confluent, without impression; pronotum with bi-arcuate ante-basal transverse groove with indistinct median pit; elytra unmodified; aedeagus in ventral view with nearly symmetrical apex of median lobe, long and strongly asymmetrical set of apical projections and broad, dentate apices of parameres each bearing three thin and short setae. Female diagnostic characters unknown.

Description

Description. Body of male (Fig. 8) strongly convex, brown, covered with light brown vestiture; BL 0.86 mm. Head broadest at large, strongly convex and moderately coarsely faceted eyes, HL 0.13 mm, HW 0.20 mm; tempora absent, eyes adjacent to occipital constriction; vertex and frons confluent and without impression, median part of vertex slightly more convex than sides; anterior part of frons flat; supraantennal tubercles feebly marked. Punctures on frons and vertex inconspicuous, fine; setae short, sparse and suberect. Antennae slender, AnL 0.38 mm; antennomere I about 1.5 x as long as broad; II 1.8 x as long as broad; III–VI each about as long as broad; VII slightly transverse; VIII distinctly transverse; IX–X each slightly transverse; XI about 1.6 x as long as broad and about 1.5 x as long as X. Pronotum slightly elongate, broadest in anterior third; PL 0.24 mm, PW 0.21 mm. Anterior margin and lateral margins in anterior fourth strongly rounded; sides distinctly but slightly narrowing caudad, pronotum distinctly constricted near posterior third; posterior margin arcuate with distinct median flattening in front of mesoscutellum; ante-basal transverse groove distinct and bi-arcuate, with indistinct median pit and moderately large and shallow lateral impressions. Punctures on pronotal disc inconspicuous, fine and sparse, those behind ante-basal groove more distinct and unevenly distributed; setae moderately dense, short and nearly recumbent, sides of pronotum with moderately long and disordered bristles. Elytra more convex than pronotum, oval and unmodified, broadest between middle and anterior third; EL 0.50 mm, EW 0.40 mm, EI 1.25; sub-humeral lines sharply marked and about as long as 0.4 EL. Punctures on elytra more distinct than those on pronotum but still small, shallow and with diffused margins, separated by spaces comparable to puncture diameters; setae moderately long, sparse and suberect. Hind wings well developed. Legs long and slender; all tibiae straight. Aedeagus (Figs. 38 –39, 55– 56) slender and lightly sclerotized; AeL 0.24 mm; in ventral view apical part of median lobe nearly symmetrical and with deeply and broadly emarginated apical margin; apical projections long, complex and asymmetrical; parameres in lateral view with rapidly expanded apical parts, each with three distinct denticles and three thin and short setae. Female. Unknown.

Distribution

Distribution. Northern Peru (Fig. 68 f).

Etymology

Etymology. The name dentatus refers to the shape of parameres, which bear remarkable tooth-like projections.

Discussion

Remarks. See remarks for A. peruanus.
