Diagnosis

Diagnosis: Males and females are diagnosed by their abdominal pattern (Figs 524, 525). Males are distinguished from all other Agyneta by their pointed dorsal cymbial tubercle (Fig. 521) and their dentated, apically bident lamella characteristica (Fig. 520). Females are distinguished from other species in the genus by the exceptionally wide, rectangular proximal part of scape (Fig. 526).

Description

Description: Male: Total length 1.20; carapace length 0.57, width 0.44. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace light yellow, shiny, finely reticulate; suffused with dark gray along margin, radiating lines. Sternum yellow suffused lightly with dark gray. Clypeus suffused with dark gray, height 2. Chelicerae light yellow with transverse gray band, not excavated; seta-tipped tubercles absent; promargin six teeth, retromargin five denticles. Cheliceral stridulatory organ ~ 26 striae, well spaced, gradually closer basally. ABDOMEN: Off-white with an apical black mark (Fig. 524). LEGS: Yellow; total length leg I: 2.16, total length leg III: 1.41; Tm I: 0.30, Tm IV: absent. GENITALIA: Palpal retrolateral tibial apophysis pointed, rugose; dorsal tibial apophysis small, rugose; one retrolateral trichobothria and one dorsal (Fig. 520). Cymbium rounded; glabrous depression absent (Fig. 520); dorsal cymbial tubercle pointed, rugose; ventral tubercle triangular, rugose; prolateral notch shallow (Fig. 521). Paracymbium apical pocket long, anterior pocket short and curved making a small cover, posterior pocket absent (Fig. 520). Embolus tip pointed; ventro-retrolaterally with some small spines; Fickert’s gland absent; ventral lamella absent; thumb pointed, reaching the embolus proper (Fig. 522). Embolus proper set apically, large with part about equal (Fig. 522). Anterior terminal apophysis wide, tip with long protrusions and with one extra large prong basally; posterior terminal apophysis pointed, with well sclerotized tip and one curved, one straight prong basally; lamella characteristica with row of spines, ending in two small points (Fig. 523). Female: Total length 1.37; carapace length 0.60, width 0.43.

MAP. 35. Localities of Agyneta semipallida (Chamberlin & Ivie 1944). CEPHALOTHORAX: Same coloration as male. Chelicerae yellowish; promargin six teeth, retromargin five denticles. Cheliceral stridulatory organ ~ 16 striae, well spaced throughout. ABDOMEN: Same as male or with pattern (Fig. 525). LEGS: Same colorations as male; palpal tarsus normal, claw absent; total length leg I: 2.16, total length leg III: 1.34; Tm I: 0.27, Tm IV: absent. GENITALIA: Epigynum with very wide proximal part of scape, with slightly oblique sides; epigynal slits, elongated-oval; pit hook depression shallow (Fig. 526); lateral lobes elongated; stretcher small; pit small (Fig. 527). Median part of scape short and wrinkled; genital pores positioned at the end of median part of scape (Fig. 528). Internal genitalia with elongated receptacula vertically positioned (Figs 527, 528).
