Materials Examined
Material examined.3 ♂, 1 ♀, (MFN), Namibia, Wlotzkasbaken, 9.iv. 2008, LF Turm, W. Mey. External characters. Wingspan 13 mm. Forewing grey with dark spots in wing base and in middle part. Distal part with band formed from fusion of two spots, parallel to outer margin of wing. Hindwing unicolorous grey. Fringe of both wings white.
Description
Male genitalia. Valvae symmetrical. Costal margin of valva heavily sclerotized, distally terminating with shoe-like formation. Base of valva weakly sclerotized with a protruding outer margin. Costal processes of valva short, length half that of valve, in distal part first thickened and apically markedly narrowed. Uncus wide, lobate, with small notch distally. Sternum VIII with wide oval notch, its lobes wide and short. Phallus short, almost straight, its length 2 / 3 that of valva. Basal part of phallus oblique. Female genitalia. Apophyses posteriores short, thin. Apophyses anteriores short, straight. Antrum short, tubulate, weakly sclerotized with two protruding strands. Ductus bursae wide at the end towards ostium, gradually narrowed. Lamina vaginalis formed as two separated sclerotized ovals. Bursa copulatrix oval, weakly sclerotized.
Diagnosis
Diagnosis. The female genitalia are very similar to those of Agdistis piccolo Gielis, 1990, described from Namibia on the basis of one female. It cannot be safely ruled out that the species presented in this article is indeed A.piccolo. The status of the present sample can only be established after re-examination of the holotype of A. piccolo, and preferably with additional material.
