Ordo: Coleoptera
Familia: Carabidae
Name
Aeolodermus Andrewes, 1929 – Wikispecies link – Pensoft Profile
- Aeolodermus Andrewes, 1929:368
Type species
Homethes emarginatus Chaudoir, 1872:389
Way of life
Size range – 7.5 mm to 8.0 mm; adults of this genus are active in May (1 ex. CAS) and have been found at lights (Andrewes 1929[1]).
Distribution
Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
Notes
Chaudoir (1872)[2] believed his species was close to Stenocheila Laporte de Castelnau; however, Andrewes (1929)[1] followed the advice of Sloane (in litt. or pers. comm.) and left it in the “Anchomenini.” Darlington (1956)[3] followed Andrewes; however, we believe Chaudoir was clearly correct and we have classified it here within the Lachnophorini along with Stenocheila, Diplacanthogaster, and Homethes.
