Materials Examined
Type host plant.Stachys spectabilis Choisy ex DC. (Lamiaceae). Relation to host plant. The mites were vagrant on leaves. Type locality. Muradiye, Van, Turkey (43 ° 45 ' 38 "E, 39 °03' 23 "N), altitude 1712 m above sea level, coll. E. Denizhan, 30 June 2008. Type material.Holotype female [4028 (2)] and 7 female paratypes: [4024 –4027, 4028(1), 4030 & 4031] deposited in the collection of the Faculty of Biology, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, Poland and 3 female paratypes [4032 & 4033 (1–2)] deposited in the collection of Department of Applied Entomology, Faculty of Horticulture, Biotechnology and Landscape Architecture, Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW, Warsaw, Poland.
Etymology
Etymology. The new species name (adjective in the genitive case, masculine) is derived from the specific name of the host plant. Differential diagnosis. The new species is closely related to Aculus stachysi (Petanovic & Boczek, 1991) found on Betonica officinalis L. (originally listed as Stachys allopecuros (L.) Benth.) in Montenegro and can be distinguished by: body length, prodorsal shield shape, setae sc, solenidion and appearance of the dorsal microtubercles. In A. stachysi, the body size ranges from 158 to 180, the shield is triangular with regular sc setae, the solenidion is knobbed, and the dorsal microtubercles are indistinct. In the new species, the body size ranges from 220 to 290, the prodorsal shield is subtriangular with rounded lateral margins and stout sc setae, the solenidia are not knobbed and the dorsal microtubercles are elongated. Both species are vagrant on the leaves of their host plants.
