Name
Acuclavella merickeli Shear, 1986 – Wikispecies link – Pensoft Profile
Diagnosis
For species descriptions see Shear 1986[1]. Discriminated from other Acuclavella having a single pair of paramedian spines on tergite II by having relatively homogenously colored leg segments, not giving the appearance of banding at leg joints (from Acuclavella makah and Acuclavella leonardi) or by having scutal spines > 0.50 mm and ocularium height from ventral edge of eye to tip of spine > 0.60 mm (from Acuclavella sheari).
Distribution and habitat
Acuclavella merickeli populations are bracketed to the south by the South Fork Clearwater River and to the north by the Selway River; all localities in Nez Perce National Forest, Idaho County, Idaho. Coniferous habitat dominated by Picea englemannii or Thuja plicata and Pseudotsuga menziesii; microhabitats include moist woody debris and moss adjacent to small perennial water features such as side-slope seeps and headwater streams.
